Types of Membership
A. Certified Landscape Designer
Applicants must submit a complete landscape
plan, specifications and written presentation about the design intent.
This must be prepared in it entirety by the applicant. The plan
may be for a residence, business or commercial establishment, industrial,
or governmental project, or other suitable project, which generally
demonstrates the applicant's professional capabilities.
The Certification Committee will review
application materials for suitability under five basic categories:
1. Design appropriateness and competence
2. Plant suitability and design
3. Graphic communication and competence
4. Education
5. Work experience.

A $25.00 nonrefundable application
fee must accompany the above. Upon acceptance, annual membership
dues will be $75.00.
B. Associate Member
Membership is available to those interested
parties who wish to support the VSLD and who are engaged in related
professions, but who are not actively involved in landscape design.
Enclose a check for the annual membership dues of $50.00.
C. Student Member
Membership is available to any student
of landscape design. This category of membership is available to any student of landscape design. A student member may keep the student membership for two years after graduation to allow time to gain the experience and work references necessary for the certification process. Enclose a check for $25.00 and include a reference
from at least one professor under whom you are studying. Plan submitted
from students is optional. This is a nonvoting membership.
